Notes
King Saud University's new campus includes four faculty buildings, sports facilities, a new teaching hospital, and a separate women's college. The campus accommodates 25000 students, faculty, and staff, as well as their families.
Kenzo Tange was commissioned for devising the master plan, drafting an academic plan, and designing the infrastructure. The architect intended to have the variously sized green patches, scattered throughout the university's desert site, become the basis for the university's master plan. The vision was, thus, that of three oases in the desert constituted of educational and research facilities, one for male students, one for female students, and one for the teaching hospital. These were planned to be set to the south, along the highway, while the northern and western parts of the campus were consecrated for the staff residences.
